This Indigenous Floor Game Walkabout incorporates special cultural knowledge and encourages conversation about the values, the practices and the stories of Aboriginal communities. Players travel the board searching for ‘Walkabout’ spaces. When they land on these, their special cultural knowledge shoots them forward.
But If they’re unlucky, they’ll land on a ‘Sacred Site’ and must go back to learn respect.
The Walkabout game mat was born out of the imagination of respected elder from the Logan region, Uncle Barry Watson. Indigenous Artist, De Greer-Yindinmincarlie, provided the artistic inspiration and is the sole designer of the boardgame.
This game is suitable for 2-4 players, for ages 3 and up, and includes 1 dice.
This Walkabout Aboriginal game can be supplemented with other cultural resources including cultural mats, Aboriginal design doormats and educational games for your kindy, preschool, classroom or university too.
